Bought a pair to replace my dead 2.1 speakers (Corsair SP2500) which had served me well for 6 years and i did not want to have to deal with a subwoofer due to wires.
Set up, including attaching the plastic stands which i highly recommend due to better stability and especially angled positioning for improved sound delivery, took under fifteen minutes.
Plugged into my Auzentech X-Fi Prelude sound card, i tasted first FLAC files and a couple of audio CDs, in particular songs from Sarah Brightman, Tsai Chin, Kit Chen, Journey, Pink and Metallica. Also played a couple of tracks from the Lord of the Rings sound track as well as Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and Pachelbel's Canon in D. I am no audiophile but based off my layman's ears, the Highs were very clear and sharp; the Mids carry through very well and the clarity was obvious. Sometimes even too "bright".
Bass, while decent and taunt, could not compare to a dedicated 2.1 system, however.
Watching videos were nice and if you are watching a Blu-ray disc off your PC, the T40s deliver audio which is actually better than majority of TV speakers. It never sounded "tinny" and it always resonated well with "fullness".
Gaming is the one area which the T40s seem to be an average performer, in my humble opinion. Probably because of the lack of a subwoofer and that is no fault of the system, it is 2.0 and not 2.1, after all. Despite that, game BGM and environmental sound effects for "The Witcher 3", "Dead Space" were clear, rich and atmospheric.
To say that the GigaWorks T40 is a legend and its trademark yellow cones iconic is an understatement and i wish that i had owned a pair in 2009 and then upgraded to the Series II today. Great 2.0 speakers, especially paired with a decent discreet sound card.

These are really great speakers, I had a 2.1 speaker set up before these and I just love the sound quality of these speakers.

I am so blown away by the sound that eminated from these speakers. The tone and bass is beyond any other speaker I've heard, been after these for some time and convinced the wife to buy them as a Christmas gift. Oh so happy love this company.

Works well with my Playstation 4 after I used an optical cable adapter. Treble is crisp and sound is very clear. Clearly outperforms its competitors in the below $200 price range in my opinion. Highly recommended!

Just to keep this in a perspective: I bought these in 2009.
I posted this review in 2020 and my verdict still stands just as back then: the T40 Series II will still easily beat any 2.1 setups that are more expensive.
Durability-wise, this pair survived my moving between countries...and now I'm still using these for my TV / gaming system.
The bass & treble are still just as punchy and loud without crackles as they were back then.

I have been using Creative products for more than 15 years after I finished my secondary school and their products never disappoint.
This is a set of speakers I bought to go along with my new PC set up in my study room. Paired with my old trusty Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium, these pair of speakers sounded very awesome!
Mids and highs are more pronounced, and the bass is sufficient and comfortable. Maybe it's abit lacking on the lower frequency range as it doesn't have a dedicated sub.Regardless, the overall sound quality is really good and probably cannot be matched with competitors within the price range I bought this at ($149 when its on sale).

I bought the Series 1 of these 11 years ago, and have been really pleased with then. So when my wife wanted some new speakers for her computer I got these, and she is absolutely delighted with the quality and the sound.

I work from home, and headphones feel very restrictive on an all-day basis, so I wanted some speakers which would provide a rich and detailed sound. I had my eye on these for some time, and once they were on special I knew the time was right to buy.
The Gigaworks T40 SII is a well-built speaker that looks purposeful when sitting on your computer desk. With the covers removed, the yellow fibre-weave 40mm drivers look very serious, along with the large dome tweeter which adds to the visual appeal.
Setup was easy, and the provided cable is long enough to suit most applications.
The dials are well placed, but the smooth metallic surface, as well as the resistance on the knob to switch on and off means they can be a little awkward to adjust - but thankfully they go into sleep mode after a period of inactivity and wake-up on signal, so you can set and forget apart from volume adjustments which are fairly straight forward.
These speakers are indeed audiophile-oriented, with a detailed and neutral sound that brings forward every nuance of the instruments being played in music, or the vocal character of the singers of your favourite songs. The limited 40mm driver size does impact the ability to reproduce unnatural levels of bass - but for music listening I found them to be just right in the close-quarters 2.0 playback. The bass ports at the top of the speaker do move quite a bit of air and help extend the bottom end response to ensure a well-balanced audio reproduction with things like the kick drum and bass guitar in Metallica's "Unforgiven" being both clear and full-bodied. At the other end, the 40mm driver and tweeter are perfectly supported to deliver almost perfect mid-and high-frequency response, with classic sore-points like brass or crash cymbals being generated without creating fatigue. Imaging is also fabulous at this price point, with the positioning of various objects within the stereo sound-stage being incredibly perceptive and dynamic.
On the converse side, the gloss black finish does attract a lot of dust, and the treble and bass controls need fine adjustment to get the speakers sounding their best (for me that was about 1'o'clock on the Bass and 2 o'clock on the treble dials).
Ultimately, if you are a music lover and looking for a quality audio reproduction from your desk space, then it's hard not to recommend the Gigaworks T40 SII, particularly when partnered with a high-quality audio source like Tidal or Qobuz.

The Gigaworks T40 Series II is truly a value for money purchase. The quality of sound that comes out of these speakers are amazing. Highly recommended for people who listen to music or play games. I was pleased to hear the directional sound of my enemies approaching on my front/left/right/behind clearly from these speakers. Gaming has taken on a new meaning for me. Also when listen to the band play, being able to hear and focus on the distinct sounds of each different instruments with their tones and hues was certainly welcome. Best buy ever!

I was shopping around for a replacement for my old Creative T3130 which has served me well for the past 5 years and the Gigaworks caught my eye. Since the T3130 was a 2.1 setup, I was initially a little sceptical about the bass performance of the Gigaworks T40 Series II as it does not come with a dedicated woofer. However the Gigaworks did not disappoint as the BasXPorts worked like a charm, providing deep and well-rounded bass. The midrange performance is exceptional and listening to music on the T40 Series II is always a treat. I am especially happy with the numerous connectivity options as I can choose to connect my headphones or portable media devices conveniently from the front. And if I ever get a PS4 in the future, the Gigaworks T40 Seires II also has me covered with the included dual RCA-to-stereo adaptor. In all, the Creative Gigaworks T40 Series II is a solid piece of engineering and I am very satisfied with my speakers upgrade. Highly recommended!

Good sound quality. No audible tingling vibration even when you play it at the highest sound level. Highly recommended.

The speakers has once again surprise me for the sound quality it is able to project on a working space in office. The bass thumping so powerful that the ceiling board trembles and all these without the need of a separate sub woofer. The trebles need a bit twitching on the EQ to get a more richer representation especially for female vocal. Overall, for the price, it is a 5 star for me.

I'm not an audiophile but this pair of speakers are really crisp sounding. I placed it in a bedroom and it sounds great when I'm in the living room. I do not aspire to be a public nuisance so I have not fully realized the potential of this pair of speakers. They can go quite loud. The bass is really quite awesome.
If you're limited by space, this is the perfect pair of speakers for your set up. Easy to maintain too.

One of the best looking and sounding 2.0 speakers you could buy. Despite reading all the complimenting reviews, I was still skeptical on how good a set of speakers without a sub-woofer will be. After owning it for a few weeks, I am now clear of doubts. The bass is more impressive than I had expected. If you are using it with a PC and think that your sound card is not good enough, or you are not getting results with these speakers, you will need to couple it with some sort of sound processing software(eg. Realtek Audio Manager), and be prepared to be blown away. The energy saving(standby) feature is greatly welcomed for me as well. After the speakers goes into sleep mode, it takes about a second to wake up upon detection of sound, and not 5-6 seconds as mentioned in some video reviews I saw on Youtube prior to purchasing. The gold plated auxiliary jacks on the right speaker are also very useful for quick audio input and microphone access. These speakers cost a premium price, but they also deliver a premium quality.
